The wooden statue of Nikko-Gakkou Bodhisattva is a lacquered and gilt image created using the yosegi-zukuri technique. From the inscription on the back of the pedestal, it is revealed that it was crafted by the same artist as the wooden standing statue of the Twelve Heavenly Generals at Kansho-in, in the eighth year of the Bunka era (1811).
In this restoration, dry and wet cleaning, consolidation of flaking areas, and reattachment of detached components were carried out. Through cleaning, the gold leaf regained its original brilliance.
